The transition to a new economic reality that is based on forest conservation requires the creation and presentation of viable alternatives for income generation.
As we know, the state of Pará has great potential to contribute to the fight against climate change, mainly by reducing deforestation and forest degradation. And the Jurisdictional REDD+ System can contribute to this, as a financial mechanism to compensate for efforts to reduce deforestation and degradation, benefiting sustainability, conservation, and forest recovery actions, while respecting socio-environmental safeguards.
REDD+ is a financial instrument that strengthens the State Plan Amazônia Agora (Plano Estadual Amazônia Agora – PEAA – in Portuguese) and its instruments, so that the state can advance in achieving the goals established in the State Policy on Climate Change (Política Estadual sobre Mudanças Climáticas – PEMC – in Portuguese).
